GIFC took on Shawfield in their third league fixture in an away game this week at Crownpoint looking to keep a fine run of form going.

The Irish started in a 3-5-2 formation and showed great application from the off. Early chances falling to recent signing Josh Reilly and striker Connor Jack.

Irish were of the mark on 14 mins when Ross Marshall won a brave header to send Josh Reilly clear and the forward chased the ball right to the last to force the ball over the line to give GIFC a deserved lead. 0-1.

The Irish were happy to knock the ball around and displayed some superb passing all over the park as they took the wind out of Shawfield.

HT 0-1.

Irish started the second half with a 4-4-2 formation and proved far too strong for the home side to cope with.

Connor Jack scored the second from the penalty spot on 59 mins after Ross Marshall had been hauled down in the box. 0-2.

Jack then added his second and the Irish third when he finished after some great play from strike partner Josh Reilly. 0-3.

Vice captain Stephen Cairns then chipped in with a powerful drive from the corner of the 18 yard box on 78 mins with Reilly again providing the assist. 0-4.

The Irish were superb to watch and went further ahead when John Biggins gathered a lay off from Josh Reilly and smashed the ball home via a slight deflection on 80 mins. 0-5.

Midfield powerhouse Ross Marshall completed the scoring for GIFC when he tapped home in 88 mins following a superb run and pass from Connor Jack. 0-6.

The Irish were in fine form today and can feel very proud of themselves in not getting involved with the opposition after some heavy challenges were dished out.

Man of the match was debutant Josh Reilly followed by Ross Marshall. The entire team can feel equally due the plaudits after this performance however.
